For one who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends. But for one who has failed to do so, his very mind will be the greatest enemy.

Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, at that time I manifest myself. To protect the virtuous, to annihilate the wicked, and to re-establish the principles of dharma, I appear in every age.

Set thine heart upon thy work, but never on its reward. Work not for a reward; but never cease to do thy work. Do thine allotted task. Do it as a service, and set desire aside.

The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead. Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these beings. Nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.
